Three years ago today (Nov 30, 2022), OpenAI dropped ChatGPT and basically kicked off the whole AI race we're living through now.
Quick take on where things are at:
• Nvidia stock is up 979% since launch (ChatGPT made Jensen Huang very, very rich)
• The top 7 tech companies now make up 35% of the S&P 500 (was 20% three years ago)
• We've gone from "is this a gimmick?" to OpenAI being arguably more powerful than most nation-states
Sam Altman said someone's going to "lose a phenomenal amount of money in AI" probably true, but even the skeptics admit AI's reshaping business, labor markets, and geopolitics faster than anyone predicted.
Crazy to think we're only 3 years in. By 2028 this is either going to look like the dot-com boom payoff or the biggest bubble pop in tech history. 😟
