Honestly, this isn't that surprising when you think about it. Google has been sitting on decades of search data, YouTube content, Gmail, Docs, the entire web crawl basically every type of human knowledge and interaction. They've always had the most comprehensive training data of anyone in this space.
While everyone was focused on OpenAI and Anthropic, Google was quietly building with an unfair advantage: they literally index and process most of the internet's information every single day. That data moat was always going to matter.
The real question now is whether this lead holds, or if it's just a benchmark moment before the next model drops.
